2008 KME Predator 8 man cab with a 22 inch raised roof in the crew section. It is powered by a 500 Horsepower Cummins ISM engine, Allison automatic transmission with a two speed jake brake. Front cab portion; drivers seat with 8 position electric seat. Officers seat with an SCBA in the backrest. There is a rear mounted camera that turns on when the truck is in reverse with the screen near the driver to watch. On the engine cowl between the driver and officer, are 2 radios, one low band and one ultra high band mounted on a swivel for the driver or officers use. A third high band radio is mounted on the dash. The crew area has 6 SCBA seats, four facing the rear and two facing forward. There is an enclosed cabinet in the crew area for portable radios, Hazmat books, etc. There are 6 hand lights mounted in the area also. A six foot tall, fully geared firefighter can stand up in the crew area. The body is 18 feet 6 inches long, walk around made from stainless steel. The compartments are six foot tall with roll up doors. Each compartment has either a fixed shelf a roll out tray or a roll out drop down tray. The rear compartment has a 500 Lb., 108 inch roll out tray for heavy and long cribbing plus room for stokes basket, back boards and rescue jacks, etc. The top portion of the body has four large coffin compartments, one holding 200 lbs. of speedy dry that is dispensed through a hose to buckets at ground level. This truck also has a 35 KW PTO generator which powers two 3900 watt telescopic lights; one on the right front corner of the box, and one on the left rear corner. They nestle down inside the compartment when not in use. Each side of the truck has three 1500 watt AC work lights plus two 500 watt 12 volt work lights. Each rear side compartment houses sets of 10,500 lb. spreading strength TNT extrication tools. The left side has a gas motor to operate the hydraulics , a set of cutters and a set of 41 inch spreaders. The right side has an electric motor powered from the generator to operate the hydraulics. Here, there is a set of cutters, a set of 32 inch spreaders and a ram with many extensions to reach over 5 feet. All hand and portable tools are securely mounted to shelves or trays inside every compartment including the chest style refrigerator which holds approximately 48 bottles of water for rehab. --The Rescue is first due out of Station 1 for all motor vehicle accidents in the District.
